“Children and Family Institute (CFI) believes every child should grow up in a safe and stable home surrounded with unconditional love and support. Our mission is to build, strengthen and restore families. CFI has three programs to reach our goals.  With our Pathways to Parenting Program and Fatherhood Institute Program, we strive to prevent parenting trauma and stress by teaching our new and existing parents conflict resolution techniques. We encourage our parents with knowledge to help make them the best moms and dads they can be.  The goal of the CFI Adoption Program is to find permanent adoptive homes that will provide children with a successful, promising future. Our agency provides Adoption-Only services, specializing in placing minority children, school-aged children, and sibling groups.  CFI assists families seeking private infant and state adoptive placement with an emphasis on assisting Kinship adoptive parents.”

OUR VISIONARY: ROSE NESBITT-JONES

A HEART TO SERVE

FROM THE BEGINNING

While attending college, Rose Jones began her career in adoption as a volunteer, house parent for emotionally disturbed and at-risk teenage girls. Later, she successfully earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Shortly thereafter, she became employed with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) where she provided adoption and foster care services for 7 years. Although Rose Jones enjoyed her position there, she had a deeper desire to accomplish more in the area of adoption. After learning firsthand of the desperate need for homes for children of color, God put it on Rose Jones' heart to establish an agency. She sought to build an adoption process less intimidating to potential families that specializes in placing "hard-to-place" children.  In 2008 Pathways to Parenting was established to provide parenting and life skills support services. These services deter children from going into the foster care system.  Rose Jones believes children and parents need support to help propel them in the right direction in life.

OUR START

1993

CFI IS FOUNDED

Children and Family Institute (CFI) was founded by Rose Jones in an endeavor to locate forever homes for culturally diverse children who have experienced traumatic situations. Rose Jones knew that families sometime encounter life crises that require support to sustain the family unit. She recognized that there was an urgent need to place neglected children in stable and loving homes.

2008

CFI EXPANSION

In 2008, CFI expanded their programs to include more support services to mothers and fathers. Specifically, CFI provides parenting classes at no cost to clients. The parenting classes are administered under the “Pathways to Parenting” program. These services include mentoring, childbirth classes, support groups, career planning, financial education, life skills training, adoption education, and community resource referrals.

2012

CFI NEW BRANCH

In 2012, CFI opened an additional branch office in the Fort Worth area.   The new office opened additional opportunities for CFI to offer mothers and fathers seeking support services. CFI in the Fort Worth office provides the same parenting classes administered under the “Pathways to Parenting” program, at no cost to families. The services in the Fort Worth office are the same, including mentoring, childbirth classes, support groups, career planning, financial education, life skills training, adoption education, and community resource referrals.

2015

FATHERHOOD INSTITUTE BEGINS

In 2015, CFI Fatherhood Institute began.  This program was designed to provide support services specifically geared for fathers and the needs dads have in parenting, co-parenting or with single parent needs. CFI provides the fatherhood parenting services at no cost as well, including mentoring, childbirth classes, support groups, career planning, financial education, life skills training, adoption education, and community resource referrals.  Our programs are geared for fathers of all ages, including the under 20-year-old dads.

2018

CHILDREN AND FAMILY INSTITUTE CELEBRATES 25 YEARS:

In 2018 CFI celebrated 25 years of service to the Dallas, Fort Worth, surrounding cities and counties, and across the state of Texas.  For 25 years we have been a part of building, strengthening, and restoring our families.  What an honor to be a part of so many blessings! We look forward to many more years of services in assisting our families with growth, development, and support.
